Do The People Need Our Own Manchurian Candidates to Reclaim Our Governments?
It seems we need to infiltrate our own governments with people who will actually fight corruption, uphold the law, and give The People a seat at the table once again. But how?
Where is the point of failure - the corruption point - in our current system?
It's the representatives. From overt money and covert dark money in politics, to revolving doors with big business, blackmail, bribery, threats of violence, and worse -politicians are the weak link in our system.
Humans are inherently corruptible, and today's power structure excels at exploiting that vulnerability. Currently, representatives neither know nor truly care what their constituents want, let alone have the courage to stand up for them. Once in power, politicians routinely vote on bills they've never read - legislation crafted by corporations and special interest groups that clearly do not have the public's best interests in mind. Promises made during campaigns are habitually broken, and there's virtually no accountability. "We The People" no longer have a meaningful voice in governance. Instead, solutions are dictated top-down, without genuine input from those directly affected.
But there is another way - a path to reclaim our system and restore power to the people as originally intended.
Imagine this:
Linda Steele (a fictional character for our narrative) is running for office. What she's about to do will redefine what representation means. Who Linda Steele is or her party affiliation doesn't matter. Only one thing counts:
She is willing to decentralize her own leadership and make the system transparent.
That's it. She won't act unilaterally; her constituents will actively guide her decisions using collective intelligence systems or similar platforms. She intentionally decentralizes her role, returning authority directly to the people. Or, at the very least, she will have to defend her actions directly to the people.
Imagine Linda takes office, turns around, and openly says to her constituents: "You are in control now. I am just your representative - your instrument. Your directions will be my actions. Tell me what you want to see accomplished, and together we'll make it happen. Tell me what rock you want flipped over, and we will do it together."
With a system like this, we would collectively tackle our greatest issue: systemic corruption. The mechanisms for corrupting our institutions have outpaced our defenses. To combat this, we must embrace bold, innovative, and difficult-to-subvert strategies. We need more self-governance and far less top-down authority.
Imagine Linda Steele rejecting all campaign financing entirely. Once elected—whether as a mayor, senator, or school board member—her constituents engage directly with her decentralized platform. Instead of serving corporations or party agendas, she transparently serves the people who elected her.
What level of transparency? Imagine her broadcasting every official meeting live online for real-time feedback. Imagine every bill being openly discussed by constituents online before voting. Imagine it as interactive reality TV show or internet show, exposing precisely how government operates behind closed doors, revealing corruption firsthand. Obstacles she encounters become collective challenges to overcome. Contracts, policies, and legislation—all vetted transparently through public collaboration first.
In short, a truly representative democracy. A real time decentralized digital town hall.
Citizens could also directly propose anti-corruption legislation, streamline ballot initiatives, and repeal laws protecting corrupt actors. With enough decentralized leaders across parties collaborating, lasting systemic reform becomes possible.
Can you imagine the panic among those currently profiting from corruption?
Decentralization works. We've seen it transform business, finance, industries, and organizations. Now it's time to implement decentralization in governance.
The world urgently needs Manchurian candidates who serve The People. Are you courageous enough to become one?

For over 3 billion years on this planet there were only single-celled organisms. Then one day they somehow learned to work together and make complex multi-celled creatures . Right now we are like those single-celled organisms. Our next evolution is finding how to work together, better… (like we wrote about here).

At least we should vote for the honest independents when available and when it will make a difference.
This discussion has many good points and ideas about how to take back our government especially on a state or local level. However, our biggest hurdles are at the fed level where candidates, as we all know, need vast amounts of cash in order to run--hence, the fed-level candidates who win are automatically obligated to serve their donors. It gets worse. With the current administration's plan to end cash--which is anonymous--and force the masses into a programmable, digital currency system, the oligarchs will have total control over us. Want your social security payment this month? Want access to the internet? Then you will have to take the latest experimental medical intervention. I don't mean to be defeatist here but if we don't face up to the worst of these coming threats we won't stand a chance.
