Humanity Needs a New Operating System
One That Cannot Be Corrupted So Easily. We Must Decentralize, Become Transparent, and Organize Using New Systems. Like so:
Yuval Noah Harari is widely known as a close advisor to Klaus Schwab, the founder of the World Economic Forum. It's wise to conclude that he is deeply embedded within the globalist power structures that currently influence much of society. However, just because many of the people he has worked with (or for) may be adversaries of open civilization, that doesn't mean Harari himself is without insight. He has, at times, offered profound observations about the state of humanity.
On Lex Fridman’s podcast two years ago, Harari made a powerful statement: humanity’s biggest problem is that they no longer have anywhere to go to make real change.
We strongly agree with this statement.
Try to refute it. It is hard. Can you name a vital system for humanity that you currently trust? One that can make real change?
Many of the traditional places where the public once had a voice - Congress, academia, media, and government - have become infected, captured, or corrupted. They no longer function as responsive mechanisms for meaningful change. The people used to have influence within these systems. That influence is mostly gone now.
If Harari’s observation is correct, then the solution becomes obvious: we must build a new place. Humanity simply needs a space designed from the ground up to resist corruption and produce real, measurable results for human beings. A space that is 100% controlled by the people directly, outside of government or institution.
We don’t claim to have all the answers. But for nearly four years now, we’ve been searching. Here on The Society of Problem Solvers Substack, we began with an article titled “The Case for Building a New, Open, Digital Democratic System Online — The Story of the Sunflower Revolution.”
Since then, we’ve explored many powerful tools that humanity has yet to integrate into the systems that govern our lives - tools that would very much help us at this moment in time. These tools include:
Radical transparency
Decentralization
Collective "swarm" intelligence
Group problem-solving
High Trust Systems
Peer-to-Peer Trust Building Teams
Epistemology and truth-seeking
Results-based systems and metrics
The key point is this: this is all fixable.
We can, and should, build entirely new operating systems for humanity - and then migrate to them. Once in place, these systems can help us fix the broken structures around us.
This is not just wishful thinking - it's absolutely possible. Here are two examples of where we could start:
A New Operating System for Business (and capitalism) [HERE]
A New Operating System for Government [HERE]
We know the problem. We understand a compelling set of solutions. The next step is to unify - to pool resources and talent into a force - and to build together. As one team. Or better yet, as a team of teams.
More soon on what a “team of teams” could look like. Shout out to our new friend

Humans solve problems better in high-trust groups, and solving problems is happiness!

For over 3 billion years on this planet there were only single-celled organisms. Then one day they somehow learned to work together and make complex multi-celled creatures . Right now we are like those single-celled organisms. Our next evolution is finding how to work together, better… (like we wrote about here).

This is how we change the world. We build genies - systems of people like this:

A new operating system is exactly what we need. And a new system that is actually capable of making change.

The high trust, decentralized, group problem-solving system might be called a “tribe.” High-trust tribal consensus decision making worked for human beings for millions of years. It worked so well that evolution hard-wired human brains with the capacity to have high-trust relationships within a group (tribe) of no more than about 150 people (Dunbar’s number). So we already have the capacities to re-create the system you’re envisioning. The problem(s) we want or need to solve might be framed or stated in terms of what to do with the hierarchies and hierarchical decision-making systems for deciding who-gets-what (including who-gets-what power and control) that presently pervade human society.
