Excellent article.

I see a future where humans thrive on this planet together in unity and divinity. I act and make choices accordingly. I truly believe anything is possible. I witness miracles every single day, despite what is being projected to us through screens.

Our power is within us, each one of us. Don’t let the external world dictate to you what is true and what is real.

First we are not separate from the Universe, we are a part of it. We are also a part of nature, not separate from it. We are endowed with consciousness, ergo, consciousness is an integral part of both nature and the universe. What stops us from our true potential is our most important tool, and also our most terrible master, the self. Until we can set the self aside, so that it works for us as a tool, we only get in our way, separating ourselves from nature and the universe. As Joni Mitchell said, "We are stardust, we are golden", just a bunch of stardust that got up and decided to look at the stars and see and do what we might in our own light, in our own lives, in our own love.

In order for most people to be enlightened and truly understand the nature of self, they often need to be shown that what they are not. The idea of non-duality - aka "not two" - starts with eliminating the line that gives the illusion of duality. This article was intended for the everyday problem solver to self examine their own consciousness.

It sounds like you are well seasoned in this area. Kudos to you, but other beginners sometimes need to begin their enlightenment on a more familiar road.

But yes in the end, we already are that what we seek.

Thank you for your kind reply and remarks. Will try to remember the level you are addressing in the future and speak more to it. The ecstasy of the acceptance can sometimes get me carried away.

"Until we can set the self aside..." What does this mean?

Good Question!

The self as envisioned by me, is a tool, like a hammer or a radio. It has an inherent ability to make sure our bodies don't run into walls or off cliffs. The problem with the self, is that it can become a terrible master, stating it's own views as the sole truth and way.

It, the self, can easily forget that the body it inhabits is the creation of nature, the solar system it inhabits was created by the universe, an after effect of the Big Bang. It does not exist separate and alone, appearances may give that view, the reality is something else.

The best way I can express it, at least at present, is that: "I do not exist separate and a part from everything else, I only existed united and a part of everything, that I everything in both parts is termed God by me. Not something that lives in the Heavens, but something that surrounds and encompasses everything and everyone, and is as conscious as well.

One can view it as a unity that for a brief period, has taken a part of itself, and let it perceive the starts from which it was born.

Thanks for providing an answer. I'll look into the "self" a bit more. In the mean time, may the force be with you. ; )

Consumed by Fire has a great song called β€œ First things First.” I love it & it touches on the belief of being part of something a lot bigger. I believe there’s one true God but others might see this power as universal love or spirit. Here’s the lyrics:

First Things First

Lyrics

Main Results

All the things that I have held dear

The vanities that whispered in my ear

What would I do if they all disappeared

Riches and fame and all that they could buy

I've come to find they never satisfy

What would I gain if my soul's the price

I don't wanna love what the world loves

I don't wanna chase what the world does

I only want you

I only want you

First thing's first

I seek Your will

Not my own

Surrender all my wants to you

Keep the first thing first

To live Your truth

Walk Your ways

Set my eyes

Lord I fix my face on you

All my desires reversed

To keep the first thing first

I give it all

My life an offering

My heart is yours

So have Your way in me

Your kingdom's all I wanna seek

I don't wanna love what the world loves

I don't wanna chase what the world does

I only want you

I only want you

First thing's first

I seek Your will

Not my own

Surrender all my wants to you

Keep the first thing first

To live Your truth

Walk Your ways

Set my eyes

Lord I fix my face on you

All my desires reversed

To keep the first thing first

To keep the first thing first

All my desires reversed

To keep the first thing first

To keep the first thing first

First thing's first

I seek Your will

Not my own

Surrender all my wants to you

Keep the first thing first

To live Your truth

Walk Your ways

Set my eyes

Lord I fix my face on you

All my desires reversed

To keep the first thing first

To keep the first thing first

To keep the first thing first

All my desires reversed

To keep the first thing first

What a world it could be if we reversed our β€œ desires” and helped others. Even just a little, could change the world. When I’m in this β€œ zone” & unselfishly give more of myself, the rewards are always returned to me double or triple times. It’s pretty magical. β€œ I don’t want to love what the world loves, I don’t want to chase what the world does”, that’s the best. This is not my final home & if you’re interested read β€œ Mere Christianity”, by C.K. Lewis. He’s brilliant, not preachy- a former atheist. We are in a spiritual war right now. Evil needs to be rebuked daily in Jesus’ name and hold your head high, knowing the truth.

Spread your roots deep & fight back with love & compassion. Evil people hate this because they have no power over you. Faith is greater than fear. Teach others that we rise by lifting others. βœŒπŸΌπŸ’• I’ll do my best, while I’m here, to make this world better, first things first.

I love it. You’re onto something powerful and transformative. Clearly, emotion and ideation transcend physical reality and experience. These elements feed on and fuel each other. Our culture seems hesitant to label emotion and ideation β€œspiritual,” probably because those who recognize only a material realityβ€”by faith and despite evidenceβ€”are quick to scorn and ridicule those who acknowledge a concurrent spiritual reality. Ancient philosophy and modern psychology tell us that material and spiritual realities are discrete and yet deeply intertwined.

A binary view, if I may, suggests material and spiritual reality co-exist along an ever-evolving continuum between self-evident extremes. In the material realm, the binary appears to be, e.g., health, comfort, and safety versus pain, suffering, and death. In the spiritual realm, the binary appears to be love, joy, and peace versus hatred, anger, and destruction. Practicality suggests we compare/contrast goals and actions based on a Good versus Not Good epistemology while recognizing that virtually everything around us is rarely or exclusively one or the other.
