On Twitter, Our Tax Dollars Were Used to Censor Law Abiding Americans. This is Not Okay.

This is just a short post to help clarify some thinking on the matter. Many people are tying to make the claim that the principles under Elon are exactly the same as they were before. That is, just a one sided execution of content moderation based on whims. But there is at least one glaring difference that should be brought into the conversation.

Our tax dollars - our own money - was being spent to censor American citizens, and to propagandize the masses into believe things that have since turned out to be false, or at the very least should be questioned. The government doesn’t deserve trust. They must earn it through TRANSPARENCY, and on this matter they were anything but. It was done in secret. This is immensely important to this conversation.

Elections were steered, people who questioned election integrity were banned, politicians were propped up, people who questioned the safety and efficacy of vaccines that we now know cause irreversible harm were removed from the platform, and people who questioned the agenda behind sexualizing children were silenced. All of this was done with our tax dollars highly involved in the execution of it.

So when we are discussing the current state of Twitter, this major fact cannot be ignored.

Criticize Elon all you want. Much of it seems justified based on what he himself previously said about free speech. But make no mistake, his decisions are done on his own dollar. The previous regime was done on ours - the taxpayers - and this should never be tolerated by a society striving to be a free one.

This clearly is not the taxation with representation we are entitled to. We can and need to do better. Like this.
