Problem Solvers Unite! Are you a problem solver? Or just a complainer? Let's be courageous, together.
A huge thank you to everyone who has been digging and reporting and trying to find out what the root problems are in our society. This was a huge first step. But now that most of us agree that the biggest problem is the corruption and how it gets into our systems, whose responsibility is it to fix it?
Let’s be honest..no one is coming to save us. This is all of our responsibility. The good news is it is fixable. But we need a movement. That starts with anyone reading this, and with ourselves right now.
True, it may not be our fault that we are here in this mess. But it is certainly our responsibility to do something about it. Bad circumstances do not excuse us from our responsibilities. Just like it might not be your fault that your dad left when you were young, or that your mom is an addict, or that some trauma happened to you. No, it isn’t your fault at all. But it is still your responsibility to face it, and try your best to survive and grow from it.
This is just like what we talked about in our recent article here, Mason shares this metaphor of the cows and the buffaloes (paraphrasing):
When a storm is coming both cows and buffaloes can sense it. But the cows get scared, and run away from the storm. This causes them to run with the storm and they have to stay in it much much longer, and suffer exponentially more. On the other hand, when buffaloes sense a storm they run directly into it. Sure it is terrifying at first, but then they get through the storm much faster. And then they are able to enjoy all of the good things that the storm has brought them: the rain, the fresh grasses…
For us, this metaphor is one of courage. We must decide to be brave, like the buffaloes. Fear is what stops us from everything.
This is not just some esoteric saying. It is a tangible reality that will have results in our everyday lives. If we conquer fear, if we start demanding fearlessly the kind of lives we want to see, together, we can get there. But we have to choose to push the fear back.
Look at any ancient text or literature and the theme around fear always seems to be the same. Fear is the first thing conquered in order for the hero's journey to begin.
Keep in mind, fear is partially a decision. You can decide right now - no matter what your circumstances - that you are no longer going to harm yourself with fear. You can use it to sense where danger is, but that is it. Once you sense it, no longer fear it. Choose bravery.
The time has come for solutions. We can all do this. And if you are still not motivated to be brave, there is one tool we can always use. It serves no other positive purpose in the universe except this: it inspires us to be courageous when we are not.
And what is that tool?
Anger.
If you are having trouble being courageous, that’s ok. Think about the people who are corrupting our systems. Then…
Get mad.
Thanks for reading. Check out these inspiring lyrics:
As always the entire purpose of The Rationalist is to connect with other solutions-minded results-driven people like yourself! We strive to be a Society of Problem Solvers, and if you align with that we are happy that you’ve joined us. For over 3 billion years on this planet there were only single-celled organisms. Then one day they somehow learned to work together and make complex multi-celled creatures like you and me. Right now we are like those single-celled organisms. Our next evolution is finding how to work together, better… like we wrote about here.

My past efforts make me hesitant to believe there is a peaceful solution. The federal government seems determined to persecute anyone seeking change.
I love this. I am mad and I'm not gonna take it anymore.
