Who sets the culture?
Today, many of us are allowing our culture to be set by corrupt institutions without even realizing it. Shouldn’t we be setting our own culture?
These centralized and monolithic entities give off the illusion of not colluding, yet they trumpet the exact same unflinching narratives in unison when it comes to dividing us into classes or groups. Mainstream corporate media, academia, politicians, big business, and even banks are trying to get us to buy into the class warfare that they have rebranded in the name of equality and equity.
The motives of these unified entities can only be assumed, but their tactics have become obvious and hard to deny. When their modus operandi turn out to be the exact opposite of the ways our great teachers from the past spoke of - teachers like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - we should be extra cautious about getting behind them.
Listen to the amazingly powerful words by one of the best orators of all time, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., below. Listen to what he has to say.
Also, isn’t it wild that YouTube has decided to put an age censorship on this video? It is almost as if they are afraid that his message will conflict with the messaging of the corporate chorus of today.
Sure, he uses the word “negro” several times to describe the particular plight of the times he faced. Is that why YouTube censored it?
Or is it this part? The part where talks about how to overcome our differences, how to unify, and especially how to peacefully organize against those who wish to divide us.
This part is timelessly powerful:
“Now the final thing I want to say is this: That if we are going to achieve freedom we’ve got to engage in action programs to make that freedom possible.
Let nobody fool you about this. Freedom is never voluntarily given to the oppressed by the oppressor. It must be demanded. And I say to you this morning that this will be necessary all over the United States of America. But as I say this let me give a warning signal that we must work passionately and unrelentingly for first-class citizenship but we must never use second-class methods to gain it. We’ve got to get smart. We’ve got to organize. We’ve got to organize so effectively and so well and engage in such powerful, creative protest that there will not be a power in the world that can stop us and that can afford to ignore us.
Our power does not lie in Molotov cocktails. Our power does not lie in bricks and stones. Our power does not lie in bottles.
Our power lies in our ability to unite around concrete programs. Our power lies in our ability to say nonviolently that we aren’t gonna take it any longer. You see the chief problem with a riot is that it can always be halted by a superior force. But I know another weapon that the National Guard can’t stop.”
Absolute brilliance.
This is how we should be outlining our culture. Not from top-down corrupt institutions, but from within. What type of world do we want to see? We need to have the courage to start standing up for the exact culture we think is best for us. We need to have hard discussions and decide what exactly that is. Do we want to continue to be tricked by “the corruptors” in power into thinking our enemy is our fellow man? Or do we want to be brave, and say what we want to see - even if that means standing against strong low-rung forces in our peer groups and work circles? Do we want our differences to keep us separated for eternity? Or, do we want to celebrate our different cultures and work together in peace to create a better humanity for everyone?
As the cultural push to resort back to separation under the guise of wokeness continues - and class warfare, national divorce, and a push for violence once again rises - we would do well to listen to the great teachers of our past on how to overcome these manmade obstacles. It is not by separating further as black and white, rich and poor, straight and gay, Christian and Muslim, left and right, or any other way we are told to tribalize against our neighbors. But rather, as one people who still celebrate their their individuality yet stand together against those who are purposely trying to separate us and corrupt our systems. One people, who stand together for freedom against those wishing to take it from us once again.
Dr. King’s words are truly the opposite of much of the culture being pushed on us today.
“I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood….
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”
Listen as Dr. King shows us the way with all of his greatness:
As always the entire purpose of The Rationalist is to connect with other solutions-minded results-driven people like yourself!
For over 3 billion years on this planet there were only single-celled organisms. Then one day they somehow learned to work together and make complex multi-celled creatures . Right now we are like those single-celled organisms. Our next evolution is finding how to work together, better… (like we wrote about here).

Thanks for this reminder as this is a lasting struggle not yet won! There are many attempts to separate us from understanding we are one people. We are the People! I read polling results in that 78% of the people in this country don't vote! That is an awful lot of people! If we get just 10% of these people (our neighbors) to stand alongside us we can change the way we are being kept from unity. More and more people mean less control.
Anybody who thinks we’re NOT being “told to tribalize against our neighbors” should contrast exploiters of difference with the ancient advice to “Love your neighbor.” Those who refuse to love are self-destructive and against me. I’d rather they love, but I’ll settle for their self-destruction if we can hold out long enough.
